A statewide Foundation serving West Virginia's children and families
The Five Promises for Children Foundation is an independent, non-profit foundation established in fall of 2009 by Governor Joe Manchin, III. It assures that we provide the five promises to the children of West Virginia, thereby reaffirming the governor’s commitment to supporting those resources that research verifies gives our young people the best opportunity to grow into caring, productive citizens. West Virginia will certainly be on the right track as we recognize that children are the future of our state, and as such, need to be provided the services and resources they deserve as they grow and develop.
It is important that each child knows that he/she:
1. has a caring adult in his/her life,
2. has a safe place to be,
3. has a healthy start, both physically and mentally,
4. has access to an effective education, and
5. the opportunity to give back and make a difference in the life of someone else.
In assuring the health and well being of our children, we are building a strong legacy of what is valued in this administration.
The foundation supports grant applications that focus on one or more of the five promises, is West Virginia community collaboration, and represents an initiative, which positively impacts the quality of life of its children.
